2019 Chevrolet Colorado Review

The 2019 Chevrolet Colorado is a complete package that’s difficult to resist.  Actually, let me restate that.  After driving the ’19 Chevy Colorado I want to buy one – hands down.

However, being a married man, there’s more to the equation than simply what I want. :0)  But, if you’re married, then you know.  And if you’re not yet married – you’ll find out.

So, Chevy Colorado delivers a great combination of drivability, style, functionality, and command of the road.  It’s big enough to get lots of jobs done while not being too big to drive all over Southern California on a regular basis.  Like I do, ahem, darling wife… :0)

2019 Chevy Colorado Trim Options

So, the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado is basically a small Silverado.  Perhaps that’s a key ingredient why I fancy it so much… hmm.

And, being a truck and, being that we live in the United States our trucks must be available in every possible variety.  And the ’19 Colorado definitely does not disappoint in the optional configuration category.  Chevrolet tries to keep the huge number of options as simple as possible… but frankly, that’s a tall order.

For example, if you want to dial-in exactly what you want – you should contact my friends at Martin Chevrolet.  Beyond providing the best deals they focus on assuring you buy what you want.  Not what they want to sell you like many other dealerships.  That’s a big difference in the car buying game.

So there are three basic trim levels for the Chevy Colorado.  There’s the Base, the Work Truck (WT) and the LT.  (BTW the LT in Chevrolet-speak stands for Luxury Touring.)  Starting manufacturer’s suggested retail pricing below.

’19 Chevrolet Colorado Engines, MPG & Towing

The 2019 Chevy Colorado offers up three powerplants.  And of course, you also have the option of 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive.  Here’s the breakdown for each of the three engines, with towing capacity and MPG ratings:

The 2019 Chevrolet Colorado my pals at Martin Chevrolet put me in to test drive was the sweet ride you see in all these pics.  It was a 2WD LT Crew Cab Short Box with the Redline Special Edition package.  And, I loved it.

So, the ’19 Chevy Colorado I drove had a sticker price in the $37k range.  However, as always, two things on price.  Specifically why you should never worry about MSRP:

1. You have to get your Chevrolet Colorado equipped the way you want.
2. More importantly, go to my friends at Martin Chevrolet and they’ll give you the best deal while assuring you’re in a Chevy you love!

2019 Chevrolet Colorado Exterior

With all the configuration options the Chevrolet Colorado can take on many forms.  What’s cool is the versatility.  Each form can follow the truck’s function or you can mix it up a bit.  Here’s what I mean.

The Colorado LT Redline that I drove looks at home pulling up to a valet stand for a fancy night on the town.  But it also has zero problems rolling up to a job site.

And the same goes for the scaled-down WT.  With just a few accents, barely impacting the price, you have a fully capable work truck ready to pick up your date for a night on the town.

Also, you can go to a serious extreme with the ZR2 Bison.  This is Colorado’s version of the Ford Raptor.  It looks menacing on the street and comes ready to tackle literally any terrain – right from the factory.

Incidentally, Lewis Cook, GM of Martin Chevrolet, keeps a Bison in the family for off-road fun.  You gotta love a car dealer who’s also a car-guy and leads a car-family!

Plus, in every trim configuration, the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado looks great.  And, it offers super-smart and uber-useful step inset into the rear bumper on both corners for easy cargo access.

Inside the ’19 Chevy Colorado

I love getting into and out of the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado.  I’m about 5’10” and the running boards you see in the pics of my test driver were optional for me to use.  My wife is about 5’5″-ish and I’m pretty sure she’d make use of them on a regular basis.

But the easy in and out access is something that I truly appreciate as a driver putting on lots of miles and getting in and out of a lot of different vehicles.

And the ’19 Colorado is plenty spacious inside.  I was very comfortable in the driver’s seat.  And when I was crawling around the inside taking pictures I appreciated the spacious backseat as well.

Plus, Colorado also offered lots of storage compartments and nooks.  I love being able to have easy access to my stuff as well as be able to easily keep it out of view from would-be thieves.

And the Chevrolet Colorado interior is quiet for a truck.  Which is easy to appreciate by all drivers but especially those that want to make use of the available Bose sound system!

 Accessorizing Your 2019 Chevrolet Colorado

As I mentioned earlier, Colorado can be configured for quite literally anyone’s needs.  And Chevrolet takes that to the next level by offering countless accessories.  Whether you’re getting rigged up for work, play or a little of both you’ll have fun decking out your truck to just the right specifications.  And this too is a Martin Chevrolet specialty.  They’ve been customizing trucks for SoCal Chevy drivers since the 1960s!

So, from roof-racks for boats and bikes to slide-out bed trays, camping tents, and accents.  That means your imagination is the only limitation.  Off-road gear – check.  Fun and functional lights – check, check.  You get the picture.

’19 Chevy Colorado Technology

Chevy Colorado comes with the tech you’d expect in a new vehicle.  But you have to give a nod to Chevy’s engineers because they have laid everything out very logically and simply.

User-interface gets a 10 out of 10 in my imaginary scale.

Case-in-point, it’s highlighted by the ever-popular must-haves of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.  But it also comes with lots USB ports and an optional 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

’19 Chevy Colorado Driver Assitance & Safety Tech

Now, you can equip your Colorado with the main driver assistance and safety features commonly being offered these days.

For example, a crystal clear back-up camera comes standard on any 2019 Chevy Colorado.  And you also have the option to add other enhanced safety features like; forward collision alert, lane departure warning, and rear park assistance.

Earlier I mentioned how much I loved the ease of getting in and out of the Chevrolet Colorado.  Equally as much, I enjoyed the vehicle’s maneuverability.

Also, I drove the V6, which had plenty of power to offer.  And many times throughout my test drive I pressed down on the accelerator – merely for fun.  No, not because I had to.  But very much because I wanted to and enjoyed the power! ;0)

Another cool element of driving the ’19 Chevy Colorado is the quiet cabin.  I get a little twitchy with random noises.  And trucks often deliver them.  But Colorado had a very refined lack of noisiness.  And I love that part about it too!

Now getting back to working on getting my wife’s blessing for a Colorado.  Do I need a truck?  Absolutely!  On rare occasions, every now and then I could use it to move stuff.  Do I want a truck?  Yes, even more absolutely!  I’m a dude.  I like to get stuff done.  And I like to do it on my own schedule without having to phone a friend!

So, overall, it drove like a truck but a sophisticated and well-engineered truck that I’d love to drive on a daily basis.

2019 Chevrolet Colorado | Top-3

1. Drivability – Putting on lots of miles is something my Chevrolet Colorado LT Redline wanted me to do.  Unfortunately, I had to bring it back to Martin Chevy at the end of the day.  But I’m still working on Mrs. Smith’s blessing to add one to our garage. :0)
2. Versatility – Chevy’s Colorado delivers many functions no matter what configuration you go with.  Good for off-road?  Check.  Road trips?  Check.  Work and play?  Check and check.  What more does a guy, gal or family need in a truck?
3. Styling – Just like versatility configurations, the styling of the Chevy Colorado is solid in all versions.  Even if you go with a Work Truck.  In fact, Martin Chevy’s experts are awesome helping to create the perfect work-to-play truck… or play-to-work… however you want to look at it. :0)
