2019 Chevrolet Traverse Review
My first thought for the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse review, “ah, now I get it.”
That is to say, I ‘get’ why I’m seeing more and more Chevy Traverses on the road. Likewise, I ‘get’ why families are so fond of Chevrolet’s Traverse. In addition, I ‘get’ why the Traverse makes such a great choice for anyone with an active lifestyle.
Because what I found during my 2019 Chevy Traverse review is that this 3-row SUV is highly versatile, great looking and fun to drive.
My friends at Martin Chevrolet in the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance, California gave me a ’19 Traverse for a day.
And so, you can listen to my podcast review report of the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse or continue reading below.

2019 Chevrolet Traverse Configuration Options & MSRPs
For ’19 Chevrolet makes the Traverse available in 7-different trim levels. And, since the Traverse is a crossover SUV you also have 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive to consider.
Accordingly, with that many ’19 Chevy Traverse configuration options, there’s definitely something for everyone. As a result, the manufacturers suggested retail pricing starts in a pretty wide range as well.
2019 Chevrolet Traverse Trim Levels & Starting MSRPs
-
- L $31,125
- LS $34,095
- LT Cloth $36,595
- LT Leather $40,295
- RS $44,295
- Premier $46,695
- High Country $52,095
But, don’t worry about MSRP. Because that’s just what the factory puts on the window stickers.
First, you don’t need to worry about it as long as you go to my friends at Martin Chevrolet.
Second, beyond going to Martin Chevy, you need to get your Traverse equipped to your liking.

Moreover, that’s something that Martin Chevy insists upon. They make sure you get into the vehicle that you want with the right equipment.
Because let’s face it, we spend way too much time in our cars to not be as comfortable and pleased with our driving experience as possible!
’19 Chevy Traverse Engines, Transmissions & MPG Evaluation
The 2019 Chevrolet Traverse offers a powerful 3.6-liter V6 engine standard. And that engine produces 310-horsepower with 266 pound-feet of torque.

Under the hood of my 2019 Chevy Traverse review vehicle
Additionally, the ’19 Traverse comes with a standard front-wheel drive 9-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, that transmission can be combined with a drive mode selector that offers 2-wheel drive, 4-wheel drive/snow, off-road and tow/haul options.

Traverse delivers great MPG even w/ Premier trim & optional AWD
My 2019 Traverse review vehicle from Martin Chevy had that option and I used it! For instance, when I was on a rock surface going up a rather steep hill in Palos Verdes I switched over to 4-wheel drive. Immediately I could really feel the enhanced traction.
Fuel Efficiency
Impressive fuel economy also seems to come standard. For example, depending on your configuration, the ’19 Travers will give you about 17/18-MPG in the city and 25/27-MPG on the highway. And that’s great gas mileage for a mid-sized 3-row SUV. Especially when you factor more than 300-horses under your right foot!
Exterior Review – ’19 Chevy Traverse
If you’re like me then there are certain vehicles you fell in love with as a kid or young adult, and still, haven’t owned yet. Case in point, for me, the Chevrolet Tahoe is one of them.

2019 Chevy Traverse Review – driver front
Until now I didn’t realize it. But then it hit me, the Traverse clearly looks like a scaled down and slightly sportier Tahoe. And I love that!

Traverse = scaled down Tahoe look
Plus, my 2019 Chevrolet Traverse review offered a great example of just how sporty-looking this crossover/SUV can be. The red accent stripes on the black wheels and black Chevy bow tie look fantastic.
And those are Redline package accents for you serious shoppers. ;0)

And while you’re probably noticing my reflection in the rear liftgate of the above picture… it’s probably a good time to point out that the Traverse also offers an air-kick-to-open-liftgate.

Always a super-handy (or, in this case, footy) convenience feature to have! (And here’s to super-stupid puns!) :0)
2019 Chevy Traverse Interior Review
During my review of the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse, I climbed in and out of the vehicle more times than I can count. And I am happy to report that each time was a complete pleasure. Especially since my pants are fitting a bit tight these days due to not enough appearances at the gym. :0)

Supportive and stylish leather seats in my Traverse review vehicle w/ Premier trim
I really liked seating and surfaces in the Traverse. The leather was supple with a great quality feel. And the seats were a little firmer than I’d expected. This gave the Traverse a little bit of a high-quality European feel. And that too was impressive.

Super-comfortable 2nd-row captains chairs!
Commanding Ride w/ Second Row Captains Chairs
My ’19 Chevy Traverse review vehicle included second-row captains chairs that were just as comfortable as the front seats. And that second row included plenty of creature comforts from climate controls to connectivity.

2nd-row climate control & connectivity
What’s more about the 2nd-row of the ’19 Chevy Traverse is that it’s simple to get into the third-row.

Traverse 3rd-row access from outside
And with 2nd-row captains chairs, I was able to easily slide into the 3rd row without having to open the backdoors at all!

Plus, the 2019 Chevy Traverse review vehicle Martin Chevrolet gave me offered ample ports to plug-in, power-up and stay connected throughout all three rows!
And, I cannot leave out the ample cargo space in Traverse. That’s because there’s simply so much of it and it’s highly versatile. And, on that note, the ’19 Chevy Traverse can seat up to 8 if you go with a second-row bench. Personally, I’m sticking with the captain seating but the option is there if you need it.

Up to 98.2 cubic feet of cargo space!
With two rows of backseats, you have lots of options and space to put your cargo. 23.00 cubic feet with all seats up. 57.8 cubic feet with the 3rd-row down. And 98.2 cubic feet with both the 2nd and 3rd rows down.
’19 Chevy Traverse Analysis – Secret James Bond Compartment!
So, I have to point out my favorite feature of the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. And your inner James Bond will appreciate this too. The secret compartment in the dashboard!

Traverse has a secret dash stash!
It’s right behind the touch screen and operates with the push of a button. Below is another pic of the same compartment but with my glasses case inside to show how big it is!

Secret compartment even has a USB port inside!
Plus, the secret compartment even has a USB port inside. So you can plug in your phone and completely conceal it! And, this is great because it’s so important to be able to tuck away our stuff from the prying eyes of would-be thieves.
2019 Chevrolet Traverse Technology Review
So, besides the super-cool secret compartment in the dash, the Traverse can come loaded with great technology. And that’s both on the sides of comfort, convenience, and entertainment as well as safety and driver assistance.

Comfortable and user-friendly cockpit.
For example, you have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with an available 8-inch touchscreen. And that touchscreen is exceedingly easy to navigate – BTW.
But, what really impressed was the weather forecast feature. That feature projects the weather forecast right on that same 8-inch center console touchscreen.

In-dash weather forecast!
Plus, looking at the above picture what do you see? You can check hourly, 5-day and even on your route! Hello, that’s one smart piece of tech. Nicely done Chevy.
Chevrolet Traverse Review Safety & Driver Assistance Technology
The ’19 Chevrolet Traverse received a highly respectable 5-Star Rating from the National Highway Safety Transportation Administration. So, add another mark to the good for families column along with parental peace of mind.

Packed with features to keep your family safe!
And, in fact, Chevy really has families in mind with the Traverse’s Teen Driver Technology. For instance, when that’s activated it gives Mom and Dad a report card on your teen driver’s recent performance. (Another ‘atta-boy/girl’ to Chevy for this innovation.)
“…it gives Mom and Dad a report card on your teen driver’s recent performance… ‘atta-boy/girl’ to Chevy for this innovation.”
Plus, the 2019 Chevy Traverse I reviewed included all the optional driver assistance safety features. And those included forward collision alert and braking, rear vision camera, lane keep assist, so on, so forth and etc. :0)
2019 Chevrolet Traverse Review | Top-3
- Space: Inside the ’19 Chevy Traverse is huge, comfortable and stylish.
- Drive: Even being so big inside, the Traverse manages to drive like a much smaller vehicle. (Awesome maneuverability!)
- Secret Compartment: I don’t usually select one particular feature but this one is not only cool but totally functional. Hide your phone and charge it at the same time!
