The 2021 Chevrolet Trax is a great daily driver. Especially if you’re in an urban setting where space is tight. But also, if you’re just wanting something smaller and more nimble to maneuver.
In either case, Trax is a capable subcompact crossover SUV that seats five adults. And it can take four adults comfortably on a weekend road trip. Meanwhile delivering great fuel economy. However, depending on how your crew packs, you might need a luggage rack for that weekend getaway.

Additionally, the following exterior colors become available for the model year. These are Midnight Blue Metallic, Crimson Metallic, and Shadow Grey Metallic. But there’s one more, for an extra cost, you can get an Iridescent Peral Tricoat.
Finally, the bow tie brand includes a new premium seat package on the LT trim. And that comes with full ‘leatherette’ seats that are heated in the front.

But, if you want to add Midnight or Sport Edition packages then you need to go with the LT trim.
Engine, Transmissions, And MPG
Here too, Chevy keeps its sub-com sport-ute simple. Because regardless of the trim configuration, Trax comes with the same peppy 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder.
And that engine puts out 138 horsepower with 148-pound feet of torque. Furthermore, it’s matched with an efficient 6-speed automatic transmission.
So, you’re only decision here is whether you want an all-wheel-drive or front-wheel drive.
EPA Estimated MPG:
- FWD 26/31
- AWD 24/29
*City/highway
But it doesn’t matter which drive you pick. Because when it comes to fuel economy you’re in great shape either way. And depending on trim and transmission configuration the ’21 Trax has a curb weight of between 3,124 and 3,292 lbs.

The ’21 Trax comes standard with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen. Plus 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay are available.

Standard 7″ infotainment touchscreen
Almost all Chevy vehicles come with a similarly formatted infotainment touchscreen. And in my opinion, Chevy strikes just the right balance of buttons, touch features, and a knob. Making the user interface intuitive and easy to use.
Safety
Trax offers many of the high-tech safety features commonly offered across all vehicle makes and models lately. But moreover, the 2021 Chevrolet Trax has a stellar 5-star Overal Vehicle Score for safety. And that’s from NHTSA – the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Top-3: 2021 Chevrolet Trax
So my Top-3 for the ’21 Chevy Trax were easy picks.
- Safety: The 5-star Overall Vehicle Score is a big one. Especially when we’re talking about a subcompact vehicle. Because for smaller cars we want to be extra certain safety is a focus.
- The drive: Trax’s smaller stature also means you want to be able to maneuver the vehicle effortlessly. And that you can do for sure. Plus responsive acceleration keeps you in control.
- Interior space: The folding front passenger space is nearly worth the price of admission alone! The rest of the inside is smartly yet comfortably designed to haul people and stuff.
