The new 2022 Lincoln Navigator is getting some big luxury upgrades. After many years of languishing, Lincoln has regained its place among the most luxurious brands.  They’ve accomplished that through notable high-quality upgrades that aim to mimic first-class accommodations.

And now, they’ve announced new features that make the Navigator even more attractive. Among them are new trims, new interior tech, and most notably, a very impressive self-driving system called “ActiveGlide”. Let’s take a deep dive into all that the new Lincoln Navigator has to offer.

This Isn’t Last Years Navigator

Visually, the new 2022 Lincoln Navigator is strikingly different from last year’s model. A new more impactful front-end design surrounds a new Signature grille.

New adaptive pixel projector headlights are set into the new front end.  These will be standard on every Navigator. In the rear, new 3D taillights sit at each corner and are connected via a prominent light bar. Two new colors are also now available.

Also, Manhattan Green Metallic joins the Navigator Black Label lineup and Starlight Gray will be available on all trims.

Interior Features Put The 2022 Lincoln Navigator In a Class Of Its Own

In much the same way that the exterior of the new Navigator is updated, the inside will get similar treatment.  Stylistically, buyers will find new interior themes to choose from.

Central Park and Invitation join previous themes Yacht Club and Chalet.  Each features a unique interior trim to best suit the buyer.  Plus there’s a lot of new technology too.

The 30-way adjustable front seats have a new massage program.  In addition, every Navigator gets heat and ventilation settings for the second-row seats.

And buyers can even equip their 2022 Lincoln Navigator with massaging second-row seats.  Passengers in those seats also get a new 5.8-inch touchscreen display.

From this display, passengers can control climate, and sound settings.  A dual 10.1-inch rear-seat infotainment system is also available.  Also, based around Amazon Alexa, each screen will be controllable via voice remotes featuring and Bluetooth headphones.

Let The 2022 Lincoln Navigator Drive For You

The most notable of the new features on the new Navigator is ActiveGlide.  Yes, it will provide adaptive cruise control and keep the Navigator centered in its lane, but it will do so much more.

So, Lincoln uses Speed Sign Recognition to allow the Navigator to drive completely hands-free.  And that means that at times drivers won’t have to interact with the car at all.  To achieve this feat, the Navigator must be one of more than 130,000 miles of prequalified divided highway.

Drive it… or be driven… hmm?

Once there, drivers can let go of the wheel and the SUV will take over.  An interior camera system will continually check to ensure that the driver is paying attention to the road should they need to take over.  This system requires less interaction than even that of a Tesla.

One of the most luxurious experiences in a car is having a chauffeur, and the new 2022 Lincoln Navigator can do be just that.
