Volkswagen is rolling out refreshed Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport SUVs for 2024.
Showing them off at the Chicago Auto Show. There are visible styling elements from the Euro-carmaker’s electric ID.4.
Plus quite a few additional improvements we’re looking forward to getting our hands on.

Lighted VW logo and grill bar
Refreshed Exterior – 2024 Atlas And Cross Sport
The front and rear facias have been reworked. Including all but base model trims receiving a lighted grill bar. Plus lighted VW logos in both the front and rear.
Also, new factory wheels up to 21 inches with R-Line trims.

And the inside of the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas and Cross Sport might offer the biggest improvements.
Because there’s now an available 12″ infotainment touchscreen atop the center stack. Plus all trims are receiving Volkswagen’s Digitial Cockpit Pro.
And, my favorite, ventilated front seats are available. Along with a heated steering wheel. Plus a soft-touch leatherette dash and center console.
With top trims receiving quilted leather seating. On top of all that is automatic climate control and shifter paddles on the steering wheel.
New Engine – 2024 Atlas And Cross Sport
For 2024, Atlas and Cross Sport will have only a single engine. Previously there were two options a turbocharged inline 4-cylinder or a V6.
But for 2024 the engine will be a single turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. Volkswagen says it brings better performance, acceleration, and fuel efficiency than both of its predecessors.
And that engine is delivering 269 horsepower with 273 pound-feet of torque. With a 5,000 pound towing capacity.
12″ Infotainment touchscreen
Enhanced Safety Suite – VW 2024 Atlas And Cross Sport
Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive is the name of its safety and drive assistance suite of features.
And for 2024 Atlas and Cross Sport, IQ.Drive is getting enhanced. With more features becoming standard across more trim configurations.
Some of these features include a head-up display, lane centering, adaptive cruise control, and more.
Volkswagen’s Release Date
Volkswagen is targeting a release date of 2023 for the 2024 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport.
No word yet on if the 7-seat Atlas will be available prior to the 5-seat Atlas Cross Sport. Or, vice versa.
But VW is targeting Q3 of 2023. Stay tuned.
