Chevrolet SUV models have taken over the carmakers lineup of vehicles it offers.
So much so that there’s even some segment redundancy, which is a good thing for car buyers because it gives us even more options.
From the monstrous Suburan to its slightly smaller sibling Tahoe and all the way down to the subcompact Trax. There is undoubtedly something for everyone in the Chevrolet line-up of SUVs.
In fact, the most recent addition to the lineup is an electric vehicle. Which, Chevy has teased to expect more of in the future.
What’s more, is that every indication is that the bow-tie brand isn’t just teasing – it’s going there. It’s ‘finding new roads’ in the company’s very own marketing lingo.
Here’s the complete overview of the Chevrolet SUV model lineup. And these are listed by size biggest to smallest.
Suburban – Oversize

2022 Chevy Suburban High Country
Suburban is Chevrolet’s multi-purpose beast. Because it offers to seat up to 9-adult-passengers in 3-rows. And it can tow up to 8,300 lbs. Plus you can fold down both rows of backseats. And then wind up with up to 144.7 cubic feet of cargo space. Also, Suburban is the longest-running nameplate in automotive history. Finally, it’s the only vehicle to have a star on Hollywood Boulevard!
2022 Chevrolet Suburban:
- Class: Oversize
- Seating: 3-rows, up to 9-passenger
- MPG range: 14 to 20 mpg
Tahoe – Full-size

2021 Tahoe – 120.9″ wheelbase & 210.7″ overall length
Tahoe is the Chevrolet SUV model I’ve personally always desired. And, like Suburban it’s a 3-row sport-ute. Plus, while maximum seating is up to 9 as well, its 3rd-row is really for kids or small adults. Interestingly you can tow up to 8,400 lbs with Tahoe. So, Tahoe is a tremendous amount of SUV in itself. But just a little smaller than its oversized brethren, Suburban.
- Class: Full-size
- Seating: 3-rows, up to 9-passenger
- MPG range: 14 to 20 mpg
Traverse – Full-size/Midsize

2021 Traverse – 204.3-inches length & 70.7″ height
Traverse is huge inside but drives small. In fact, it’s so big inside that this is where the Chevy SUV model lineup starts to blur traditional lines. Arguably, Traverse delivers full-size dimensions in what the EPA classify’s as a midsize vehicle. And, Traverse is more crossover to Tahoe’s SUV. But maximum towing is still a respectable 5,000 lbs.
- Class: Midsize
- Seating: 3-rows, up to 8-passenger
- MPG range: 18 to 27 mpg
Blazer – Midsize

2021 Blazer – wheelbase 112.7″ / length 191.4″
After a long hiatus, Chevrolet brought the Blazer nameplate back in 2019. More crossover than SUV it boasts sexy styling cues from Chevy’s Camaro. And that makes Blazer a great option sporty urban driving. But with a minimum ground clearance of 7.4-inches Blazer is still ready for reasonable road departure. And offering up to 4,500 lbs of towing power.
- Class: Midsize
- Seating: 2-rows, 5-passenger
- MPG range: 20 to 27 mpg
Equinox – Compact

2021 Equinox Premier trim w/ Redline Edition Package
Since its launch, Equinox has become the second best selling Chevrolet vehicle. Bested by only Silverado, Chevy has sold nearly 3-million of the SUV models rolling into 2020. And that makes sense. Because it’s a stylish, highly capable crossover sport-ute that’s widely affordable. Plus its 5-star Overall Safety Rating from the NHTSA gives families easy peace of mind.
- Class: Compact
- Seating: 2-rows, 5-passenger
- MPG range: 22 to 31 mpg
Bolt EUV – Compact Electric

’22 Chevy Bolt EUV LT Trim
Chevy started its electric vehicle foray with the Bolt EV. And then its next electric vehicle move is this 2022 Chevrolet Electric Utility Vehicle. Certainly, it is more crossover than a traditional SUV. But the Bolt EUV strikes a great balance. It’s super-comfortable and fun to drive. Easy to get in and out of – spacious inside. Plus the interior is not totally spartan like a Tesla – there’s actually places to put things! :0)
- Class: Compact
- Seating: 2-rows, 5-passenger
- MPG range: 104 to 125 mpg-e
Trailblazer – Subcompact

2021 Chevy Trailblazer – Compact/Subcompact
So Trailblazer is new for this calendar year. But it’s model year is 2021. And technically Chevrolet is bringing the nameplate back after a hiatus -like Blazer. Plus, slotting between the subcompact Trax and the compact Equinox, Trailblazer finds itself in a bit of a ‘tweener status.’ However, with its Camaro styling cues, I’m betting it is a big seller.
- Class: Compact/Subcompact
- Seating: 2-rows, 5-passenger
- MPG range: up to 31 mpg
Trax – Subcompact

2021 Trax LT trim, FWD
Trax is Chevrolet’s subcompact SUV model for 2020. And, it’s surprisingly big inside, quick, and insanely maneuverable. So, that makes it a great option for tight urban-type driving and parking environments. Additionally, whether you’re single, have a small family, or just looking for a highly economical option to get into a crossover SUV vehicle, Trax is a must test drive.
- Class: Subcompact
- Seating: 2-rows, 5-passenger
- MPG range: 24 to 31 mpg
