Hot Rods at the Beach, in SoCal, is in Seal Beach. So don’t confuse it with the one in Santa Cruz.
And as soon as I arrived I loved it. This cars and coffee event is intimate. Most attendees bring lawn chairs. They park, sit, share commentary and, stories.
Like Bob pictured below. He’s a retired fireman. And he’s a former racer. Rumor has it he’s in the Guinness Book of World Records.
And that hot rod pictured behind him is his. It’s a 1932 Ford 5-window coupe. Apparently, he pulled it out of the desert. After he found it decaying without a motor and many other parts.
Bob says he remembers the model year of his car because it’s the same year he was born. And both the driver and his car are in great shape!
Most everyone seems to know each other at Hot Rods At The Beach. But, like all others, it’s a very welcoming C&C. And while it’s mostly hot rods. The guys marvel at exotics when they come rolling in.
And that’s something I love about car-people. Everyone seems to marvel at everyone else’s cars. Cool – huh?
I’ll definitely be back to this one. And you should check it out too.
