The Taos may be brand new, but Volkswagen is already rolling out an exciting VW Taos accessory line.

The move is inspired by VW’s highly popular line of accessories for the Atlas. After the positive response, the manufacturer moved forward with the Taos Basecamp line.

VW Taos Accessory Line: Rugged Styling for All-Terrain Use

The Taos already has a strong, adventurous look. But VW is appealing to outdoorsy customers with the Basecamp accessory line. Built on the Basecamp concept, which has a custom color pallet and specific upgrades, the accessory line can integrate with any Taos model.

The style changes include bold front and rear fender flares, built-in splash guards, lower door side plates, and a custom Basecamp badge on the front grille.

In addition to the Basecamp accessory line, VW offers several kinds of mats, a rear bumper guard, and a frameless rearview mirror that comes with HomeLink Connect, which integrates your home and vehicle using smart technology.

The Taos Concept Car

Drivers who love the rugged look of the Basecamp accessory package are bound to like the full concept vehicle. VW took the sleek Taos body and created a custom color scheme, which includes Waimea blue and orange accent trim. Next, VW installed glossy and matte black elements on the hood and roof. Finally, designers added silver in the rocker cladding and skid plates. The Basecamp has built-in splash guards on the front and rear fender flares.

The vehicle also has functional upgrades for off-roading. VW raised the suspension in this model and included tough all-terrain tires. There’s also the Gentex HomeLink Bluetooth mirror with a built-in compass, which is totally unique to the Basecamp concept. An internal gear storage rack and a roof rack finish off the adventurous look.

Under the hood, the Basecamp concept car has a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that puts off 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. 17-inch wheels are standard, but buyers can upgrade to 18- or 19-inch ones if desired.

Finally, the Basecamp concept includes all the technical, safety, and function benefits of the standard Taos models. This includes a variety of Driver Assistance capabilities, a bunch of infotainment and smart technology elements, and lots of comfort and function features.

If you want to add a rugged spin to your Taos but aren’t into the full Basecamp concept, the accessory line is a great place to start. Drivers can purchase the full accessory line for $999.
