As if the ID.Buzz needed additional excitement around its arrival – VW Uses The Force to add even more!

Okay, I’m a fanboy of Star Wars AND the EV microbus to come. But put the two together and top it off with a super-cool commercial and… just, wow!

So hats off to VW and the Mouse House for nailing this one. Because the announcement is one thing. Two iconic brands/products that hold special places in the hearts of millions.

But the rubber hits the road in the commercial. It’s so cool. Here’s the context.

VW ID.Buzz

The electric version of the iconic microbus is called the ID.Buzz. And it’s coming soon. Sooner to Europe than the United States. But next year we’ll see the US version. And in 2024 we’ll have them on the roads. Or that’s the plan.

In fact, the European version of the ID.Buzz has been appearing at car shows and events throughout the US since earlier this year.

Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi

Meanwhile, Obi-Wan Kenobi, the continuation of the Star Wars franchise is being released on May 27th.

And it stars Ewan McGregor as Ben Kenobi. Coincidentally McGregor is a lifelong Volkswagen fan. (And that seems legit – not just convenient.)

The A-list actor has owned VWs his entire life and is a collector to boot.

VW Uses The Force And Ties It All Together

But I’m big on details. It’s the little things that matter. Especially in productions. Success is in the execution. And execution is easy to mess-up.

However, that’s where Lucas Film and Industrial Light And Magic slap this combination out of the park. Because in the commercial, Star Wars and the ID.Buzz are truly the stars.
