Corvettes of Bakersfield - Bakersfield, CA
Who They Are
Corvettes of Bakersfield is one of California’s longest-standing Corvette enthusiast clubs, with roots dating back to the late 1960s. Its history began in November 1967 with the formation of Associated Corvettes, a small group of ten charter-member cars led by dedicated enthusiasts, including Freddie Owen as president and Marilyn Owen as secretary. As membership grew, the club became active within the Western States Corvette Council (WSCC), hosting regional events and helping establish Bakersfield as a destination for Corvette enthusiasts.
In the early 1970s, the organization evolved into Corvettes of Bakersfield, reflecting a shift toward more locally focused activities while preserving the friendships and enthusiasm that defined its early years. Decades later, the club continues to celebrate Chevrolet’s iconic sports car through a welcoming community built around shared ownership, driving experiences, and automotive fellowship. Its long history and continued growth have made it a recognizable part of California’s Corvette community.
