Backyard Boogie Car Show is coming back to Santa Barbara for its fifth year!
The cars may be what catch your eye first, but they won't be the only thing happening once you step inside. Classic rides, customs, and lowriders share the spotlight with local vendors, food, and a full evening soundtrack spun entirely on vinyl. That all-vinyl format gives the event its own flavor. Instead of background music, it becomes part of the experience, adding a laid-back rhythm that feels right at home alongside the cars and the crowd.
Hosted by Desmadre Media, Backyard Boogie continues to celebrate local culture while giving back to the community. A portion of online ticket sales supports the 805 UndocuFund, while the event's partnership with the Community Arts Workshop helps raise funds to support and grow the arts in Santa Barbara. That community-first approach has been part of the event from the beginning, making it about more than simply filling a parking lot with interesting vehicles.
Taking place at the Community Arts Workshop in downtown Santa Barbara, the setting fits the event naturally. Rather than separating the cars from everything else, the space encourages people to move between the lineup, the night market, food vendors, and live entertainment throughout the evening. You'll likely find custom builds, classic cars, lowriders, and other unique rides parked alongside local artists, creators, and businesses, giving the gathering an energy that feels distinctly Santa Barbara.
Some events ask you to choose between the cars or everything happening around them. Backyard Boogie doesn't. You can spend time checking out the lineup, browse local vendors, grab something to eat, stop to listen to a vinyl set, then find yourself back at the cars before the night is over. It all blends together in a way that feels natural, creating a gathering that's every bit as much about the people as the vehicles.
